Shirley Best

Shirley Best, 88, of Heath, Ohio, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2024 at The Inn at Chapel Grove.

Shirley was born on January 6, 1936, in Chester, West Virginia, to Mary Virginia McElfresh and James Metsch.

Shirley attended Ohio Valley Business College, was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion, and worked in retail for 14 years.  Most importantly, she cherished her role as a stay-at-home Mom.

Shirley is survived by her loving children, son, David and daughter, Joyce (Andrew). She is also survived by her stepchildren, John (Linda), Richard (Tiff) and Shannon.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, and siblings: sister Jean and brother Jimmy. She is also survived by her sister Mary Lou.

Shirley will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren:  Ethan, Sam, Nolan, Matt and Richele and her great-grandchildren; Stephen and Abigail.

She will be missed by her family and dear friends including her friends of over 40 years from Poland, OH: Judy (in heaven), Bev and Midge.

Shirley thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends.

She enjoyed her years at The Inn at Chapel Grove where she was loved by the amazing staff and blessed with wonderful care.

She also received excellent care from Hospice of Central Ohio and The James at The Ohio State University.  Shirley was truly blessed to had received such great care from so many kind, caring people.
