Shirley S. Menard

A memorial gathering was held at Kendal at Granville for Shirley S. Menard, 91, of Granville.
Shirley died Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at Kendal at Granville surrounded by family. She was born March 1, 1921 in Maplewood, NJ to the late Lody S. and Dorothy (Meeker) Smith.
A member of the Granville Twig, Shirley volunteered at the thrift store. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, music, tennis, and gardening and was also a member of the Granville Garden Club. She will be remembered for her love of family and wonderful cooking.
She was employed as a secretary by Ciba Pharmaceuticals and worked in the export division.
Surviving are her husband, James Z. Menard, whom she married in 1949; sons and daughters-in-law, James and Joan Menard of New Hope, Virginia, Peter and Randi Menard of State College, Pennsylvania, and David and Jenny Menard of Mukilteo, Washington; son-in-law, Steve Nycum of West Chester, Pennsylvania; and nine grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Nycum, who died January 15, 2012; and one brother, Douglas Smith.
