Stella Vivian Hicks

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 17, 2011 for Stella Vivian Hicks, 82, of Granville, at Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville with Chaplain Mark Pierce officiating.
A retired secretary at Denison University, Vivian died Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at Chapel Grove Inn, Heath. She was born January 18, 1929 in Pembroke, NC to the late John R. and Stella Lowry.
Vivian attended the University of Toledo where she studied business. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, walking, and shopping QVC. Vivian loved to travel to North Carolina and Florida visiting family and friends during the winter months and especially enjoyed traveling abroad, particularly to New Zealand.
Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Trudy Girkins of Spokane, WA, Kim and Maureen Girkins of Douglas, MI, Barry Girkins of Garberville, CA, and Brian and Julia Girkins of Seattle, WA; grandchildren, Clinton, Cole, Emily, Blair, and Stella Girkins; brother, Elvery Dean Lowry; sister, Genevieve Cole; aunts, Lottie Lowry-Hardison and Adeline Lowry-Maynor; and uncle, Carson Lowry.
In addition to her parents, Vivian is preceded in death by her husband, John Leslie "Les" Hicks, Jr. who died March 6, 2004; brother, John R, Lowry, Jr.; and sisters, Clara Neville and Sarah Dallas.
