Thelma L Stiff

A memorial service celebrating the life of Thelma L. Stiff will be held Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at Centenary United Methodist Church, 102 E. Broadway, Granville with Rev. Casey Wilson as celebrant. Private interment will be held at Welsh Hills Cemetery.

Thelma passed away Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Middleton Senior Living in Granville at the age of 86. She was born in Newark, Ohio to the late Lester and Thelma L. Foster. Due to the death of her mother in childbirth, Thelma was raised by her maternal grandparents, Frank and Blanche Hartman.

A graduate of Granville High School, Thelma was most at home in Granville and the Welsh Hills, where she grew up on the family farm. Thelma had fond memories of her early years, especially high school, where she was a cheerleader and homecoming queen. She had been employed at the Granville Times and Denison University, but taking care of family and being a homemaker is where she found her greatest joy. Thelma most treasured her many good friends and neighbors in Granville, especially her Tuesday coffee group. She was a faithful member of Centenary U.M. Church and enjoyed gardening, antiquing (scouring many auctions), and reading countless mysteries.

Surviving are her children and their spouses, Michael and Sarah Stiff of Bozeman, MT and Sharon and Jon Moyer of Columbus; grandchildren, Tyler Stiff (wife Angela) of Portland, OR and Mallory Stiff (partner Brandon Hasert) of McMinnville, OR; great granddaughter, Josie Stiff; brothers, Gary and Ken Foster; and sister, Evelyn Butt.

In addition to her parents, Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Stiff.
