Tom, a retired chemist from Owens Corning Fiberglas Technical Center, died Wednesday, March 04, 2015 at Kendal at Granville. He was born on September 1, 1918 in Granville to the late Thomas W. and Reah Grace (Evans) Philipps.

After graduating in 1936 from Granville High School, Tom received a BA in Chemistry from Denison University in 1940. He dedicated 42 years of service to Owens Corning and secured several patents in reinforced plastics before retiring in 1984.
