Virginia Wetmore King

A memorial service for Virginia Wetmore King, 86, of Granville will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Kendal at Granville, 2158 Columbus Rd., Granville with the Reverend Mr. John Kauffman of St. Luke's Church officiating.
Ginger was born in New Rochelle, New York on May 12, 1925 to the late George M. and Rebecca M. (Riley) Wetmore. She died Sunday, March 11, 2012 at her home at Kendal at Granville.
A 1948 graduate of Denison University, Ginger was a member of Chi Omega sorority and a junior Phi Beta Kappa. She was also an active volunteer and docent with the local libraries and numerous service organizations wherever she lived.
She was fascinated by art and spent hours in museums wherever she was or wherever she traveled to. Asian art was a particular joy and was reflected in the books and art she collected. Ginger loved to cook, loved good food and loved sharing it with her friends and family. She always loved a good mystery book. She maintained lifelong relationships with friends from elementary school, from college, from young-married days in Baltimore, from raising her family in Wayne, Pennsylvania, from several years on Kwajalein, M.I., for her husband's career, and from 26 years in Concord, Massachusetts. She was a loving daughter-in law and mother-in-law.
Ginger was an expert needle-woman, skilled in needlepoint and sewing. She played a great game of bridge. She bemoaned her "black thumb" for gardening. She had a propensity to cut herself when cooking.
Ginger was smart, loyal, faithful, organized, willing, generous, and a very sweet and gentle soul. We will miss her greatly.
Surviving are her daughters, Mary Evelyn Arnold and Leslie Anne King, both of Sonoma, California, and her cousins, Karl & Ann Ways of Glendale, California. She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. King, Ph.D., who died in 2005, her brother, William S Wetmore, and her son-in-law, Keith Sadko.
