Virginia S King

d. May 9, 2021

Granville

A private graveside service will be held for Virginia S. King, 98, of Granville, at Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville.  Virginia passed away May 9, 2021 at Kendal at Granville.  She was born in Geneva, Illinois to the late Julius and Esther Sackrison.

Virginia grew up in Batavia, Illinois and attended Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois, where she met William Richard King of Keithsburg, Illinois.  They were married in 1942, shortly before he shipped out to begin his military service in World War II. After the war, they began a family in Batavia and moved to Granville in 1960.

After raising her family, Virginia completed her education at The Ohio State University, and taught kindergarten in the Newark City Schools.

After she and W.R. retired, they enjoyed spending time with family and friends, participating in the morning fitness program at Denison, and traveling around the country and world.  Her focus and main joy in life was her family.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

She will be greatly missed by her children and their spouses, James R. and Penny King, Robert C. and Charlene King, John W. King and Tamara Jaeger, and Mary and Marc Brockman; her grandchildren and their spouses, Austin King and Satenik Margaryan, Ashley and Tim Scheu, Brian and Riikka King, Laura and Eric Sullivan, and John and Kari Brockman; and her seven great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Virginia was preceded in death by her sister, Erdene S. Peck.
