W. Ray Clodfelter

A funeral service for W. Ray Clodfelter, 72, of Granville will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, 2010  at Centenary United Methodist Church, 102 E. Broadway, Granville with Rev. Stephen J. Cramer officiating.  Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Granville.

Ray, a retired electrical engineer from Newark Air Force Station, died Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark.  He was born in Enid, OK to the late Wilbur Glen and Thelma Katherine (Harris) Clodfelter.

Ray grew up on a large farm in Kansas.  In the day, he rode his horse 22 miles to school until he sold the horse to buy the engagement ring for the love of his life, Frances Howk.  After living in Kansas, Ray lived in New York until finally residing in Granville in 1962.

Ray's many interests included stain glass making, wood working, gardening, and reading.  He was an active member of Centenary United Methodist Church including Vintage Voices.

Surviving are his daughter, Ellen Clodfelter of Newark; son, Gene Clodfelter of Newark; and sisters-in-law, Billie Clodfelter of Fairfax, OK; and Patti Pruett of Niceville, Florida.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Frances Irene Clodfleter, who died Dec. 15, 2009; and two brothers, Glen and Bob Clodfelter.

The family will receive friends Monday 4 to 7 p.m. at the McPEEK-HOEKSTRA FUNERAL HOME, 133 South Prospect St., Granville.  Online condolences may be expressed at www.mcpeekhoekstra.com.
