William Leachman “Pete” Ullman left this world for his eternal home, after his final “Happy Hour” and being surrounded by family, on March 19, 2021 at his home in Granville. He was 93 and a much loved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend to many.
Pete was born in Granville to the late Kenneth L. and Ruby Alice Ullman. Granville was important to Pete and he graduated from Granville High School and Denison University. A Navy veteran, during World War II, Pete served aboard the USS Yorktown and USS Essex. He would return to his hometown for a career in management being employed at Tectum, Owens Corning Fiberglass, and retiring from Eftec.
A man of solid character, Pete had life-long friendships, was a great listener, and mentor to an untold many. He appreciated the arts, was a faithful servant of God, and could been seen every Friday night at the Granville Inn on a date with the love of his life, Jeanie. Pete was a member of MU Chapter, Sigma Chi, United Way volunteer, Granville Little League coach, a loyal O.S.U. football fan, and supported everything athletically at Denison.
Surviving are his children and their spouses, Jenny Michael, Tom Ullman and Carol Young, and Laura and Mark Scheidt; grandchildren and spouses, Beth and Kevin Stone, Emily and Darren DeVincenzi, Eric and Nichi Scheidt, Thomas and Courtney Ullman, and Scott and Anna Scheidt; great grandchildren, Kaitlyn Brassard, Jayden Stone, Ruby Scheidt, Cody Stone, Ethan Scheidt, Della Scheidt, Audrina Ullman, Maylee Scheidt, and coming soon baby girl DeVincenzi.
In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by his wife of 61 plus years, Jeanie; and his sister, Carolyn Hodges.
Memorial contributions may be made to Sigma Chi, 100 North Loop, Granville, OH 43023or to McPeek-Hoekstra Funeral Home, P.O. Box 185, Granville, OH 43023 for the benefit of a memorial bench to be placed in Granville honoring both Pete and Jean.
A memorial service celebrating the lives of Pete and Jeanie will be held at 2:00 P.M. on July 2, 2021 at Sigma Chi House at Dension University. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mcpeekhoekstra.com.
